My first blog post

Well, here I am!  I'm new to the world of blogging, so if anyone actually finds this post, please be patient with me.  I'm actually more of a pen and paper type of person, and am disillusioned with the idea that technology is taking over my life.  Nevertheless, I've decided to keep a blog, so as to record some of my thoughts and ideas.

I truly desire a simpler life.  Is that crazy?  If it wasn't for my husband, I would probably want live out in the sticks, Laura Ingalls Wilder style.  I can totally see it!  Elizabeth Zimmerman ( an early knitting author) lived in an old schoolhouse in the woods, which was converted into a cabin.  If I could add solar panels, heat and water, I'd be set.  I could knit, write books, read, and here's the big one: NOT have to listen to a television running all the time.

I stayed at a retreat center a few weeks ago and it was an amazing experience.  Quiet, reflective, simple, relaxing, peaceful space.  I spent two days with a group of ladies, we are all studying an energy modality called Healing Touch.  We all stated that we wanted to come live at the center.  It was lovely not to have any responsibilites, to-do lists, or piles of laundry calling out to me.  Yet I missed my family.  As wonderful as it is to get away, it's more wonderful to have people who love you, waiting for you to come home.  Big hugs, and sweet kisses waited for me.
